Cloud Computing
____________________________________________________________________________
The term Cloud Computing describes the use of applications and services on-line.
You can use applications via the Internet without having them stored on your PC or server and
your information, files etc are saved or hosted by a service provider.
The aim of Cloud Computing is to provide easy, scalable access to computing resources and
IT services on-line – instead of building your own IT infrastructure, in effect you rent the storage,
computing power and applications from the provider.
Cloud Computing services are sold on demand and users can often have as much or as little
of a service as they need at any time.
The key difference is that the service is fully managed by the provider so a user needs nothing
but a PC or mobile device and Internet access to use applications within the Cloud.
STS can advise on the implementation of Cloud Computing strategies ;such as ensuring the
privacy and security of data is maintained and ensure companies are geared up to coping with
the use of the Cloud to support new ways of working such as TelePresence and the increase
of video on the network.
If you have any concerns about utilising the Cloud or would like us to explain how your
organisations can utilise services and applications in the Cloud please do get in touch.
We’d be delighted to help you get the most from the Cloud.
